A naturalistic foliage design with a fruiting ivy climbing through a framework of lozenge-shaped quarries, with a central quatrefoil leaf in potmetal yellow. Outer border of naturalist oak leaves and acorns on a ruby ground. The shield is displayed against a green ground with 2 white circular bosses in the lower spandrels. Sir Brian Fitzalan served in Edward I’s campaigns in Wales and in 1292 was made one of the guardians against Scotland. He died in 1306 with no male heir.
