Pope Eleutherius was remembered in York for his support of King Lucius (panel 1b). He is probably accompanied by St Sampson (who would have been archbishop at the time of Aurelius Ambrosius), to whom a parish church in the city is dedicated, and Pirannus, archbishop in the time of King Arthur.
