This panel shows St Cuthbert banishing a demon who has caused a phantom housefire to distract Cuthbert’s congregation from his preaching. The demon flees upwards, while a woman passes water to a man on a ladder propped against the burning house. Below them, another woman empties a bladder of water into a bucket. This panel originally followed panel 14d, where Cuthbert is shown warning his congregation not to be distracted.
