This panel probably shows the miraculous provision of a plank by the sea, after the monks forgot to bring one to St Cuthbert on Farne. The damage to the lower right has led to the loss of imagery that would confirm the subject. The foot of St Cuthbert’s T-staff is angled towards the damaged area, and probably drew the viewer’s eye to the plank of wood, which is shown being used to build on Farne in panel 16e.
