This panel shows St Cuthbert, in the centre, being helped to sow barley seeds on Farne by monks from Lindisfarne. This scene is from an episode where Cuthbert sows his crop out of season, and it miraculously grows, but is then eaten by birds. Although the next panel (16d) shows Cuthbert rebuking the birds, the designers of the window have shown only the seeds and not the shoots of the crop in both panels.
