This panel shows St Cuthbert’s consecration as bishop of Lindisfarne. In the centre, Cuthbert sits upon an elaborate throne, dressed in episcopal (bishop’s) vestments. He is surrounded by bishops, archbishops and a priest. The bishop immediately to the left of Cuthbert is placing a mitre on his head, while the bishop on the right is handing him a crozier.
