This panel is one of two which show St Cuthbert’s vision of the death of King Ecgfrith. In panel 9a, St Cuthbert is shown having the vision, staring to the right, where this panel would originally have been located. Here, King Ecgfrith, in the centre, is shown being killed in battle. The panel has sustained extensive damage and the glass has been rearranged in the past, making Ecgfrith’s killer difficult to see.
