Here, Cuthbert is blessing Hildmer’s wife, who sits in bed. Hildmer and the monk who was travelling with St Cuthbert stand to the left. Instead of meeting Hildmer’s wife outside the house, Cuthbert is shown at the woman’s bedside, following a pictorial, rather than written, version of the episode.
