This panel is one of eleven designed and made by J.W. Knowles under the direction of Rev. J.T. Fowler in 1886-8. It shows St Cuthbert blessing water held by his priest, to cure the wife of a gesith (a retainer or companion of a king). The gesith, Hemma (or Heunna) stands on the right, having arrived to ask Cuthbert to help his wife.
