This tracery panel was designed and made by J.W. Knowles under the direction of Rev. J.T. Fowler in 1886-8. This angel is holding a censer and flying above stylised blue clouds. Knowles drew upon popular medieval imagery, as well as the style of the fifteenth-century glass when designing this angel. Similar angels can be found flanking holy figures in many medieval stained-glass windows and artworks in other media.
