St John, standing in his tufted cloak on the left-hand side of the panel, stretches his hand towards two pilgrims, identified by the scallop shells on the hats and pouch. The King’s ring, which they were instructed to return to him, has been lost. The figures are displayed in front of a background identical to that in 3a-4a.
