The king was unharmed, and gave thanks to God and Saint William, ascribing his deliverance to the saint whom he had promised to honour. Observed by three courtiers, the king kneels before an image of Saint William, whom he addresses with the words O Beate Willelme. This is the only speech scroll in the window.
