The morning after, according to the Breviary, a servant of one of the canons fell asleep during matins with his head against the base of the pulpit from which the Gospel was read. During the third lesson, a stone column of some weight fell on his head. In the panel, the servant is hit on the head by a roughly-shaped stone. The hand of God blesses him at the moment of impact, as the canon and two other men look on.
