William arrives at the Minster followed by the mayor with his long beard and his attendant sword-bearer. Two canons in choir robes welcome William, and one of them offers him a jewelled reliquary cross to kiss. Behind them stand two young acolytes, one of whom holds a holy water vessel and an aspergillum.
